UMass Boston Launches Live TV Studio

Boston, MA (Vocus) January 7, 2010

The University of Massachusetts Boston today announced that it has developed a broadcast television studio available to regional, national, and international media outlets for live or taped interviews with the university?s media experts.


UMass Boston began developing its live broadcast capabilities last year and launched a weekly live news analysis segment with New England Cable News that features UMass Boston faculty and staff experts on regional and national issues. UMass Boston has also facilitated live interviews from its campus with national and international media outlets, including CNBC, Voice of America?s Persian Television, the BBC, and Al Jazeera.


?UMass Boston?s faculty is rich with leading national and international experts in their fields, and now we can offer timely access to them for interviews, analysis, and opinions,? said DeWayne Lehman, director of communications. ?Our TV studio delivers a high-quality video feed with the reliability of an experienced production staff. Among the most sought after national and international experts on the UMass Boston faculty are:

????Fatemeh Haghighatjoo, a visiting professor and former Iranian Parliament member whose media appearances include Voice of America?s Persian Television, CNN, and the BBC
????Paul Watanabe, a political science professor who provides frequent political analysis, including on the U.S. Senate race to fill the late Sen. Kennedy?s seat, to major print, television, and radio outlets
