Which brand had the most impact on our lives in 2005? The results for brandchannel?s fifth annual Readers? Choice Awards are in, and this year?s winning brands by region include Google, Sony, Nokia, Corona and Apple.
Following years of back and forth fighting for the top spot, Google reclaimed its title from Apple as the Readers? Choice for the brand with the strongest global impact. Google?s continued expansion in addition to new applications impressed more voters. Starbucks and Ikea remained among the top five as Al Jazeera dropped from fifth to 25th. Newcomer Skype rounded out the tech-dominated global list with its third place debut following its purchase by eBay last September.
Regional award newcomers include multinational bank HSBC, fashion retailer Zara, mobile phone operator movistar, sandal maker Havaianas and Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong.

The world?s leading online magazine about branding, brandchannel.com presents Readers? Choice Awards annually to the brands that had the most impact (negative or positive) on our lives. 2,528 people from 99 countries voted in the 2005 Readers? Choice survey, which was conducted from November through December 2005.
Voters are allowed to choose up to five brands per region and complete the demographics section once. No single section is mandatory and rankings are compiled purely on the basis of readers? choices.
