Bridal consignment boutiques, like Le Dress Boutique and Sabrina Ann, typically accept bridal gowns that are 2 years or newer and in pristine condition. Additional stock comes from overstocked bridal shops, designer samples, and brides who purchased more than one dress. According to Linda Morado, owner of Le Dress Boutique, prices average 45% off retail prices for designer wedding gowns, and 50% off for Mother of the Bride dresses.
Brides and moms love one other benefit of shopping bridal consignment. Shoppers can try on the dress and take it home the same day. Traditional bridal shops have only sample gowns. Brides must order the dress with a 50-100% deposit of the purchase price and wait 4-6 months for the dress to arrive. With bridal stores closing amid a tough economy, this is a risk for any bride.
