Academy of Art University's fashion school is proud to announce that four fashion students have been granted scholarships from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Ghazalaeh M. Khalifeh has won the prestigious $ 25,000 Geoffrey Beene Design Scholarship. Yun-Chieh Chang won a $ 10,000 scholarship, while Jaedoo Shim was selected to receive the $ 10,000 Clara Hancox Scholarship Award. Ashleigh Tucker received an honorable mention for the CFDA Scholarship.
Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association of over 300 of America's foremost fashion and accessory designers. The organization is committed to supporting the development of the American fashion industry's future designers. The CFDA's Educational Initiatives provide support and resources for students at the high school, collegiate and post-graduate levels.
About the School of Fashion
Established in 1929, Academy of Art University is the largest accredited private art and design school in the US with nearly 11,000 students throughout San Francisco as well as nationally and internationally through the online degree program. Over 1,500 fashion majors study under the guidance of professional fashion designers. The School of Fashion houses six concentrations: Fashion Design for Womenswear, Menswear, and Childrenswear; Textile Design; Knitwear Design; Fashion Journalism; Fashion Merchandising and Visual Merchandising.
Additionally, the Academy's fashion program is the only school to show at New York Fashion Week at Bryant Park. This year, graduate fashion students debuted both Fall and Spring collections.
Graduates have gone onto companies such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, Burberry, Chloe, Liz Claiborne, Oscar de la Renta, GAP Inc., Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, Nike, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Zac Posen, Pottery Barn, Reebok, St. John, Viktor & Rolf, Diane Von F?rstenberg, and Louis Vuitton to name a few.
Academy of Art University is a member of WASC, NASAD, Council for Interior Design Accreditation (BFA-IAD), and NAAB (M-ARCH).
